Eating Disorder Recovery Coaching
Holistic alignment of body, mind and soul

My name is Sarah Thom. I see you and I understand the struggle that has brought
you to my website. Please know there is hope and full recovery is possible.
You don't have to do this journey alone.
About me: Before embarking on my calling as a Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach, I worked as a critical care Nurse for over 20 years. During this period I became acutely aware that our modern healthcare system fails to address the whole human-being; body, mind, soul. Allopathic medicine is an excellent tool for critical care but not treating our everyday illnesses. With this awareness I began exploring other healing modalities including mindfulness, meditation, sound healing and self empowerment training.
I know first handedly that recovery from disordered eating is possible and a life of vitality awaits on the other side. I battled with eating disorders and body dysmorphia for decades. Many professionals thought I would not survive. My healing journey began when I enrolled at Ai Pono; the residential program here in Maui, Hawaii. I successfully completed the program in 2014. Ai Pono recognized my years of recovery/accreditation, and I now work part-time as their Registered Nurse & Eating Disorder Recovery Coach.
On the other side of recovery I got married, gave birth to our miracle son and launched my other soul company; Maui Sound Healing.
My history of disordered eating, healthcare profession and passion for holistic wellness provides me with a unique, broad and effective skillset into deeply understanding the inner condition of eating disorders. I hold certification from The Carolyn Costin Institute, where I received direct training from world-renowned eating disorder therapist Carolyn Costin. I believe my purpose is assisting others on their journey to recovery and rediscovery of their authentic self.
I'm blessed to live on the beautiful island of Maui Hawaii. In my spare time you can find me surfing, drumming, offering sound healing therapy sessions and hiking.

Coaches work in conjunction with the client’s treatment team, coaches help “in the moment” during real time day to day struggles. A coach can assist with the daily, practical, hands-on aspects of recovery such as, ongoing text support, eating meals together, grocery and clothes shopping, and cooking, all of which coaches can do in person or virtually. Coaches might even accompany clients to social functions to help them get through the event without resorting to eating disorder behaviors. In essence, coaches can provide support that licensed treatment professionals cannot or don’t want to provide due to time constraints or ethics.
- Carolyn Costin

What does it mean to be recovered?:
“The person can accept his or her natural body size and shape and no longer has a self-destructive or unnatural relationship with food or exercise. When you are recovered, you do not use eating disorder behaviors to deal with, distract from, or cope with other problems. When recovered, you will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size or reach a certain number on the scale.” – Carolyn Costin

What is the meaning of Mana?
In the native Hawaiian culture, the sacred term mana is known as spiritual energy of power and strength.
We all possess mana and inner strength that we may not even be aware of. I named my Practice MANA because
my hope our work together will unlock your inner strength. That you'll be able to live life recovered and to the fullest.
